BRITT KINDRED

Emerging Talent Award 2015

Surfing (17 years old)

Britt attended Kristin School from 2009 onwards and has recently shifted to Raglan to attend the Raglan Surf Academy where she is working hard to prepare for the World Championships under the New Zealand surf coach Matt Scorringe.

At 15 years of age, Britt was competing in the U18 competition and now at 17 she is the sole Auckland representative in the team of 12 and was chosen as one of two within New Zealand for the U18 Girls team, a place she has retained for both 2014 and 2015.

Her current goal is to be reselected for the 2016 team to compete at the Worlds, where they are striving for a top placing finish.

In May, Britt won a National U20 competition and was the standout performer with a perfect 10 out of 10 in the quarterfinals, a score that hasn’t been given to any female in a New Zealand competition this year. Britt also won the Adam Clegg Memorial Trophy for Breakthrough Surfer at the 2014 Scholastics.

Britt has just finished her 2015 competitions, finishing 2015 placed 1st in the NZ U17 girls series and 2nd in the NZ Open Woman’s series.

Her long term goal is to qualify on the World Qualifying series to compete in the World Surf League.

Britt enjoys both Science and Maths and is currently taking Level 3 Calculus, Chemistry and Physics and is interested in becoming a nurse when she leaves school.
